Mysterious Secret Forces
I’m happy to accept there are believers and non-believers of the meta physical world, it’s a hard concept to grasp for science based folk, to allow their minds explore the realms of ‘qi’ (energy) and all that can’t be measured without calibrated instruments. However, I often wonder how many ‘scientists’ will be engrossed with the fantasy of ’The Force’ in Star Wars or Terry Pratchett’s wonderful worlds.
Science is an involving art, theories 10 years ago are now disproved with Quantum Physics today.
But one thing remains constant, is the pure, basic, ancient knowledge of our ancestors, that we are all energy, your door is energy, your fork is energy, you are energy. These energies are what I like to play with.
The Chinese term ‘Feng Shui’ is an ancient system of arranging buildings and objects with natural energy at its focus. Feng Shui masters use the ‘Luo Pan,’ which is a geomantic tool, it can give precise energy readings and help the practitioner, make flow, arrange houses and also dowse. It is a bit complicated and can take 10 years to master!
Personally I like to keep things simple. When designing a garden I’m looking for the ‘sweet spots,’ places that feel good to sit or meditate, or where to feel energised and alive. Possibly there will be ‘Sha Streams’, bad energy, in your garden but these can often be cleared with Earth Acupuncture, because energy is not always constant. Just like us, we have good and bad energy days, the earth energy in your garden is not as changeable as us humans, it can be fixed and tweaked but will hold for a good length of time.
Earth Acupuncture works similarly to Chinese/Japanese Acupuncture, releasing points along meridian lines, it heals our bodies and will also help heal the earth as it’s all connected.
What is amazing with Earth Acupuncture is that when it’s being done, you can visibly see above the crystal or wand you’re using a definite hazing, or spiralling in the air which is energy being released.
The Sanskrit ‘Cakra’ or Chakra wheel also refers to energy points in the body and on the earth.
Some of the well known Earth Chakra points are Mt Shasta (Root), Lake Titicaca (Sacrum) and Uluru, Ayers Rock, (Solar Plexus). These are all very energetic sites around the world and often steeped in mysticism.
These Chakra points can also be found on your land or in your garden and can be utilised to help find the most relaxing places to be, or simply to help connect with yourself. I always will put an object over these points to help ‘power it up’, I often use stones, crystals and water bowls.
Designing gardens using these techniques, for me, is a ‘freeing’ experience, it allows me to explore beyond the normal Garden Design rules and helps integrate a holistic realm to what I do.
